The RMK Merrill-Stevens Marketing Team recently caught up with Services Administrator Sadie Pages-Villa for the RMK Merrill-Stevens Employee Spotlight series. The series goes behind the scenes to introduce you to one of the amazing members of our growing team.
“One way of putting this job is, ‘exciting and mind-opening,’” Sadie says. Sadie, who is nearing her two-year anniversary with the company, works in nearly every aspect of the service office. Her job includes the following:
· Answering calls
· Assisting yard staff
· Administration issues
· Assisting Project Managers
· Converting estimates to work orders
· Clerical tasks
· And much more
Sadie started with RMK MS shortly after meeting Greg and Brent while visiting her husband. “I was offered a temp position in the accounting office and was trained by great individuals… I am thankful every day for being given the opportunity to show what I can offer,” says Sadie. Before joining the RMK MS team, Sadie ran a small catering company.
Asked what she likes most about working at RMK MS, Sadie says, “I like that we can be ourselves, and that we help each other out and always have each other’s backs.” When asked to describe RMK MS in just three words, Sadie says, “professional, welcoming, respectful.”
In her versatile role with the company, Sadie has had the opportunity to assist with many different projects. Asked about her favorite project, Sadie says that three projects have stood out from the rest, but instead of reflecting on the vessels, Sadie remembers the relationships she’s built with owners and crews.
“First one is Edonismo owner Paul Vitale, who was here for the full duration of his vessels upgrade. He came in every day to say “Hello” with a big smile. Second one is Vivere owner Joao Carvalho, came in every week to see the progress of his vessel. Third is Clear Deck owner Robin Macklin, who was also here for his full duration of his vessels repair. These owners made a great impression on me. They were very polite, and I got to learn a lot about their personal lives during their visits.”
When not at the shipyard, Sadie enjoys spending time at the beach and viewing the water. Sadie also loves to sketch, draw, and paint while listening to country music, smoking a cigar, and drinking a beer. We think it’s safe to say that Sadie truly knows how to get the most out of life.
