We are proud of the team and company we have built here at RMK Merrill-Stevens Shipyard, and we are just getting started. RMK Merrill-Stevens has 75 immediate openings across 22 positions. We are looking to fill these open spots in August-September, and interviews with ideal candidates will begin immediately.
Are you familiar with the RMK Merrill-Stevens story? RMK MS is Florida's oldest shipyard. After years of deteriorating, the shipyard was purchased by an owner committed to success. RMK MS has quickly risen back to its former glory after over $30M has been invested in updating the yard and purchasing new equipment, including a 100T travel lift and a 2,700T Pearlson shiplift. The new capabilities and amenities require a much larger team, requiring us to hire over 50 new team members, and maybe even you!

Boatyard Laborers are versatile, competent members of our team. You will need to have an understanding of maintenance and repair parts and supplies for boats. Knowledge of how to operate yard equipment on boats and being able to read and use technical manuals, instruction manuals, and drawings is also required.
RMK MS Bookkeepers need to have excellent analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles. On the job, you will oversee general accounting operations. You will reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain a general ledger, and report and prepare month-end close procedures.
Electronic Systems Sales Engineer
The new RMK MS Electronic Systems Sales Engineer will grow and develop lasting relationships with our team and their customers. Ideally, you will be a strong team player and have a background in custom integration.
The RMK MS Janitor will play an important role in helping us clean and maintain the newly renovated shipyard (North and South Yards). Duties include cleaning inside the buildings and performing maintenance around the yards, including mowing the grounds.
We are seeking a new Lead Carpenter (hourly) to join our Carpentry Department. The Lead Carpenter will work with stationary, power, and hand tools to cut, form, and finish materials to yacht quality standards. This requires that you are able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and service order specifications. This position requires flexibility and the ability to safely perform tasks under stressful and hazardous conditions.
Lead Marine Electrician
We are seeking a new Lead Marine Electrician (hourly) to join our Carpentry Department. Candidates will need to work with electrical, navigational, internal communications, and emergency systems. Job duties require reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
Lead Marine Fiberglass Technician
Lead Marine Fiberglass Technicians will join our Fiberglass Department, and will need a strong understanding of mold making, lamination, lay-up, one-off parts manufacturing, and general fiberglass repairs. You will be responsible for repairing major and minor fiberglass damage, and you will work in a fast-paced environment.
Lead Marine Finish Painter
As a Lead Marine Finish Painter, you will join our Paint Department and work with painting equipment used in coating applications. You will need to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and service order specifications, and take responsibility for successful outcomes while working in sometimes stressful conditions.
Lead Marine Mechanic
As a Lead Marine Mechanic for RMK MS, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain marine steering and hydraulic systems, engine room equipment, and related mechanical systems. Your work must be of the highest international standards to meet Classification Society Requirements of ABS, Lloyds, and the US Coast Guard.
Marine Bottom Painter
As a Member of our Paint Department, you will work with painting equipment used in coating applications and read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and service order specifications. You will be responsible for the quality of your work and be required to comfortably perform multiple tasks under stressful or hazardous conditions.
Marine Carpenters work with stationary, power and hand tools to cut, form, and finish materials to yacht quality standards. You will read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and service order specifications.
Marine Electrical Technician & Marine Electrician
Marine Electrical Technicians (hourly) and Marine Electricians (hourly) will join our Electrical Department, and work with electrical, navigational, internal communications, and emergency systems. As a Marine Electrical Technician or Marine Electrician, you will also need to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
Marine Fiberglass Technician
If you have a strong knowledge of mold making, lamination, lay-up, one-off parts manufacturing, and general fiberglass repairs, you may be the right fit for our Marine Fiberglass Technician position. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, repairing fiberglass cosmetic blemishes and major damages.
Marine Finish Painter
Our new Marine Finish Painter will join our Paint Department, and work with painting equipment used in coating applications. If applying for the position, you should be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and service order specifications.
As a Marine Mechanic, you need to be able to diagnose, repair, and maintain marine steering and hydraulic systems, engine room equipment, and related mechanical systems. As an hourly Member of our Welding Department, Marine Welder/Fabricator will operate automated welding equipment, and perform a variety of welding procedures such as Tig, Mig, and Mma.
The new RMK MS Purchaser Coordinator will be responsible for the ordering, receiving, inspecting, storing, and distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies for the company. Purchasing experience is preferred.
Purchasing Department Manager
The Purchasing Department Manager will join the RMK Merrill-Stevens Management Team. They will manage the Purchasing, Stockroom, and Tool Crib Departments, including recruiting efforts, hiring, training, evaluating, and implementing new software based tools & management systems, negotiating with vendors, and providing senior management the information required to make strategic business decisions.
The new RMK MS Senior Accountant will oversee general accounting operations at the company. You will reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain general ledger and reporting, and prepare month-end close procedures. We are seeking a bookkeeper who can combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
Ship Lift Operator
Ship Lift Operators need to possess the ability to interpret or create a docking plan using scale drawing and create construction drawings for the manufacture of the docking plan. You will supervise, manage, and approve the building of the docking plan. Qualified candidates have the ability to successfully manage and assign individual duties to your team to assure the safe haul and launch of yachts up to 225ft.
Travel Lift Operator
The new RMK MS Marine Travel Lift Operator will safely operate multiple types of heavy equipment to move vessels and materials to designated work, storage, and sales areas. This position requires someone who has 3+ years' experience with marine travel lift, forklift, and other heavy-duty equipment in a shipyard and yacht environment.

- Associates or Technical Degree (preferred)

- Overtime, nights, and weekend work may be required

- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Marine industry experience
- 7+ years’ experience working in purchasing and management
- Proficient with QuickBooks
- Basic accounting skills
