As the calendar year winds down, work on the North yard has been winding up.
“FLIBS brought us great exposure for the North Yard,” says RMK MS North Yard Operations and Project Manager Brent Allsop. Our presence at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) included a custom booth, exclusive media kickoff event, giveaways, team members from the North, South, and RMK MS Graphics Division teams, and more. Brent has seen a significant increase in activity at the yard since the show.
RMK MS North recently completed repairs on Archimedes, a 222’ Feadship, and Laurel, a 240’ 2006 Delta Marine motor yacht. Both vessels simultaneously broke the record for being the largest vessel ever worked on at the RMK MS North Yard. With the ability to safely haul large superyachts of over 230’ with our new 2,700LT Pearlson ship-lift, vessel owners and teams from around the world are taking notice.
Our Marketing Team recently sat down with Brent to get the details on the vessels that are currently in the North Yard for maintenance, repairs, and service.
What’s in the RMK MS North Yard?
There are three yachts currently in the RMK Merrill-Stevens North Yard for service. Vessels in the yard include:
Odessa is a lavish 2007 164’ Proteksan Turquoise motor yacht. Odessa came to the yard for a variety of repairs and service. The completion of these repairs was truly a team effort that required heavy technical work and a quick turnaround. Parts and service on this job came from vendors throughout the United States and Canada. Work currently being performed and recently completed on Odessa includes:
· Driveline repair with partner Datum Rotating Machinery Services
· Gearbox work with partner Gear Services Inc.
· Engine work with partner Performance Power Systems
· Coupling and mounts with partner Lo-Rez Vibration
· Shaft and propeller repairs with Datum Rotating Machinery Services and Lauderdale Propeller
· Paint repair with Smooth Sailing
· SeaHawk bottom paint completed by the RMK MS North Team
· Propspeed foul-release applied by the RMK MS North Team
· Additional repairs completed by the RMK MS North Team
Scratch is 92’ 2005 Mangusta motor yacht, built by Overmarine Shipyard. Work completed and in-progress includes laminate repairs, Kamewa jet rebuild by C&R Machinery, bow thruster repairs by American Marine Mechanics, blasting by Pixi Sandblast in Miami, and SeaHawk bottom paint and underwater light installation by the RMK MS North Team.
Rockstar 2.0 is an eye-catching 68’ 2018 Sunreef Yachts Supreme Power catamaran. Rockstar 2.0 came to the yard for a change in Volvo IPS propellers and Propspeed foul-release coating from the RMK MS North Team.
