The United States marine industry has seen an increase in boat sales of more than 45% in the first quarter
of 2021, creating a shortage in inventory, long delays, and a new and exciting trend. “Boat accessories and
the availability of engines is at an all-time low,” says Merrill-Stevens Yachts Director of Yacht Sales Robert
Ponce, who also believes that this rise in interest in boat ownership will continue. With a delay on the

“At the International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA) Summit, we met with yacht brokers who are
traveling around the country searching for used boats,” says MS Yachts and RMK MS Marketing Director
Nicole Squartino. “Condition is an important factor of the value of a vessel, but buyers are more willing
than before to wait while the vessel is customized and restored,” Nicole continues. For RMK Merrill Stevens,
the shipyard arm of the Merrill-Stevens brand, the IYBA Summit resulted in much interest in new
refit projects for the yard.

RMK Merrill-Stevens shipyard has been providing yacht repairs and refits for over 135 years in Florida.
The yard has become a premier destination for yacht refit with two shipyards that straddle the Miami
